So would you guys say that $2(CAD) a disc is a fairly good deal for Maxell media?

I bought some Maxell 2x from futureshop, on sale, before x-mas.

There is now an online only sale: 15 for $30 (Likely 3 5packs). Presumably this is to clear stock to make room for the newer Maxell 4x yellow tops.

I saw 5pks of the 4x on sale at walmart for $10 ($2/disc). So I am guessing this is going to be the new standard price. Which makes the above futureshop deal not really that great (2x at the same price as 4x)

Afterall, as DVDrs continue to rise in popularity, media prices can only go down, right?

What about purchasing -R or +R Riteks from the following Ontario locations?

    http://Mediadepot.ca
    http://blankmedia.ca

For rewritable DVD media, London Drugs in BC has 5 packs
of Fuji for $25 which (for Canada) is pretty good.

If you're in the Toronto area, there's a couple of big Costco type places called Sam's Place (owned by Wal-Mart) and they sell 10 Memorex 4x DVD+R in full size DVD cases for $19.99. I've bought 2 packs of them, used 12 of the discs and they all burned and played fine.

I contacted them today and unfortunately they do not carry inkjet printable DVD media .

  10. Try www.blankmedia.ca

I'm getting 100 DVD-R's at 2X with Maxell code AND cases for $148 CA, that's including shipping, and GST (no PST, as it comes from Ontario and I'm in B.C.). I've already gone through about 80 of them and the only coasters I've had were from operator error

Futureshop is currently selling 15pk of Maxell 2x, for 29.99 (Online only)

    BEWARE:

I ordered this, under the impression that 15pk = 3x5pks (as the image on the website is of the standard 5pk Maxell 2x, which contain MXL RG01 coded media).

What I received was a 15piece spindle. Blue packaging and no speed markings. DVDInfo pro yieled the result:
    code: RitekG03 at 1X!!.
So looks like these are the ones that Maxell buys off other manufacturers.

So it looks like their was a mistake on the website, as thats not actually what they are shipping. Not necessarily bad media of course, but definitely not as advertised!!

I guess I am just going to have to wait for Wallmart to put the Maxell-4X (DVD-R) MXL-RG02 back on sale for $9.99.

well i ordered 500 G04's from meritline and for the first time -- they were really slow on shipping .. though they did answer my emails ... and i got them now (almost three weeks) ..
so in the meantime i gave www.blankmedia.ca a try ... same G04's (printable) , i got 2 day delivery and excellent price ... from now on i think i will buy from them instead ..

oddly enough -- the G04's from meritline and from blankmedia look slightly different packaging (meritline has ritek all over wrapper and printed on hub, blankmedia has no markings on anything - but dvdinfo says they are the same disk)

Spotted a sale on DVD-R media...

    FactoryDirect.ca has 50 packs on a spindle for CAD$50 after a $10 rebate. Available until Feb 13th - 1 per customer.

No idea whose discs they are, they look generic and the picture shows silver topped discs.

    Regards,

    Savant

Futureshop has a sale on for Memorex DVD+R 4x (RICOH) for $7.99, for a 5-pack..

But as we speak, they are all sold out online. When I ordered mine on Monday night they had a 1000+ pieces, and I ordered 10. Seems like over 24-36 hours they have sold out all their pieces. If you live in a smaller area, your local futureshop might have them.

Gotta love their free shipping policy.

Does anyone know what happened to www.blankmedia.ca I've been trying their site for a few days, and I can't connect...

I doubt that they've gone out of busines... probably a problem with their hosting or something... I was able to connect earlier last week...

    Anybody know?

I just heard back from the folks at

    www.blankmedia.ca

    Seems that their webhost disappeared.

The website is now showing an Under Construction note so that's good.

If you need to place an order they are still servicing customers by phone:

Wal-Mart Canada now selling Maxell 4X 15pc spools for $25 CAD. About time the B 'n M stores started selling spools. I can only hope these go on sale soon. They also have the 10 pc jewell case packs for $21. I'm using albums now to store the discs, so jewell cases are not needed...

Porphyra, have you used many of these?
I know their 5 pks of -R are usually either ProDisc03 or CMC.

Got some about 2weeks ago from Future Shop.

As of then, they still were Purple Cardboard box, 5pks. +R 4x.

    All were RICOHJPNR01 discs.

I think only the spindles are the ones you have to worry about differing manufacturers (at least, I hope so, heh)

  30. aggies11, Be careful, I picked up 5 packs of the Disks (5Packs) and 2 of the packs were CMC...

There are 2 different box styles ... The stye that the top just opens up ARE RICOH... The other kind of box has a little tab that you pull out, and then the top opens.. If you get that box... those are CMC... I foudn this out the hard way...
