Unfortunately London Drugs is forbidden in Quebec due to its English name...
Here it should be called "Medecines de Londres"

  2. yeah but what I was saying is that your price of $60.00 for 25 DVD's is EXPENSIVE.

    atic.ca=$1.60 CAD per 4X DVD

London Drugs is forbidden because of the name? LOL That's Quebec for you lol

Futureshop has the Memorex CMC AF1 4X at $10 per 5 pack. They burn okay on my A05. Haven't tried them in my Panasonic E80 yet but I hear they work in that as well. Good enough for doing movies off the satellite TV channels...

Anyone here tried the Pine DVD-Rs 2x, are they any good or not? Future Shop is selling them 25 for 40$

  11. The TDK 2x at Costco are cheaper than that 40 spindle. At Costco it is $37 for 15. The big question is what actual media code the 40 pack is. If they are RITEKG04 then it isn't too bad but they (RITEKG04's) are a lot cheaper at www.blankmedia.ca and also www.memoryexpress.com.

  12. I got 10 Info Smart 4X, burned one last night. Filled it to the limit with
a movie, played back perfectly in my JVC dvd player. Will post as I burn the pack of 10 if I get any coasters. By the way, I am burning with a Pioneer A05.

Compusmart has actual branded Maxell 4X on til Dec. 10th for $49.95 for a spool of 25. I was going to buy the 25 spool of Memorex for $56 from another intown supplier but this is a way better deal...

Looks like those Compusmart Maxell branded DVD-Rs are not Maxell or Taiyo Yuden at all. Awaiting word from both Maxell and Compusmart on what they really are. I noticed they come in a 25 spool which Maxell legit are not marketed in. The green tops are lighter than real Maxells. They also say (in REALLY tiny letters) on the paper label that they are made in Taiwan whereas real Maxells are made in Japan. Oddly enough, the 2 I've sampled give a Taiyo Yuden 4X media ID (probably so your burner will recognize this and burn at 4X) but the surface has scratches and defects. The ones I burned gave zero errors in DVDInfo Pro though so they could be good enough for throw-away stuff but definitely not for keepers. They should also be a lot cheaper than the $50CAD I paid for them and that was on sale!

I'd like to know what these are myself. Historically, PINE has always been Pioneer overstock.

    Competition for Blankmedia.ca in Canada!

I just found www.recordablemedia.ca on ebay. Their prices were cheaper, I live in the Toronto area and received my discs the next day. I have never received a shipment that fast ever. Shipping was only $11 for 100 Ritek I will always check around before buying, but these guys had the best prices this time.[/b]

I picked up a 10 pack of Pine DVD+R 4X media at Futureshop on Boxing Day and wish I hadn't. They are junk! First one burned on my brand new LG4040B errored out 1/2 way through the burn. Media says 4X but DVD Info Pro says max. burn speed is 2.4X! These are going back ASAP.

I doubt that those Pine 2x discs are Pioneer overstock. At least the ones that show up in Canada. The Futureshop employee(who now knows about this place!) I talked too mentioned they might be CMC media, but wasn't positive. (Apparently Futureshop has not received any complaints on they're retail branded Verbatim discs,BTW.) If anyone has them please put up the implementation ID(using DVDInfoPro) so we can get a look.

My Pine +R 4X and Media ID 001 and are junk. 1st one failed half way through a 3.6 Gig burn. DVD Info Pro says they are 2.4X maximum burn speed. Riddled with errors. I took the rest back for a full refund...

Maxell 2X are on sale at Futureshop (Canada) at $9.99 + tax for a 5 pack. The deal was so good where I am that some of the stores techies bought almost the entire shelf worth as it was below what they normally pay even with their discount...
    Quote Quote
  23. Yep, I went to futureshop today, and bought 5 packs of the Maxell discs. Cost me about 56 dollars, but its all worth it. They usually charge 16.99 for the discs. I'm thinking about buying even more, since that deal is FAR too good to pass up

  25. I've ordered from BanzaiCracker.com a couple of times. They've got great prices on Ritek media and since they're based in BC there's no PST charged if you ship out of province (shipping is pretty reasonable...)

  26. hey rOrO88,

Yeah I just ordered from www.banzaicracker.com too. They were great - sweet deal - only CDN$160 after tax and shipping - and good service. They gave me a little bag of Japanese rice crackers too. Nice!

They only have Riteks though, but that's all I ever use anyways. Princos = naughty! Also they have Ritek 1x in stock (blankmedia has run out).

If you are talking about Atic Computers in Vancouver, I would warn you to stay away. They have the worst service ever and poor follow through on warranty. My friend bought computer parts there to build his parent's a box and he rues the day he ever heard of them! He brought back stuff on warranty, and they basically told him that it wasn't their problem (bastards!).

Futureshop is advertizing, on their web page, 15 pack Maxell 2X -R's for $29.99. Apparently they are only taking orders at the moment as neither of my 2 local stores have them in stock.
