It's too bad they are Memorex BUT Wal-Mart (at least where I am) has dropped the 3 pack price from $29.99 to $9.98. I went and verified the price the other day with a salesperson and their in-store scanner. Good if you need a disk in a pinch for data or a short "throw-away" movie...

Some bargain! I tried the Memorex in my Pioneer A05 with the 1.00 firmware and using Stomp RecordNow Max and the drive doesn't even recognize the disks! The tray opens and the comp asks for a disk again after you load one. They went back as soon as I found that out...

Take a look there:
http://www.ez-buy.com/index.html?target=front.html&lang=en-ca
I just found htis store. 225$Can for 100 Ritek.. free shipping !
I will probably try them when I will run out of my 20 Princo disk -
They don't tell you very much do they.
The price is low but what are you getting....there are many older Ritek discs that I would not want for that price. -

Just kidding around. There are a few reasons. The silvers are cheaper than the whites in cost. I buy from Meritline so I comparing prices as you give them to me. Also esthetically I don't like the silvers because it is very easy to see finger prints and dust compared to the whites. Not that I can do it but I think you can also print on the whites with special printer. -
They are silver / purple and I have pasted the DVDinfo file below.
Media Information
Media code/Mfr ID RITEKG03
Book Type DVD-R
Media type DVD-R V2.0
Max Write Speed 2.0x 2700KBps
Write Rotation Control CLV
Linear Density 0.267um/bit
No of Layers 1
So, Gen 3 Ritek for 2.25$ canadian each.. shipping included.

suport look great.. they guy awnser my 3 email in half a day -
That is the cheapest I have seen in Canada from what I have looked around. Unfortunelty it is a far cry from other US on-line stores like Meritline who sell the same thing in pack of 100 for $110 US....not sure what conversion is at but can't be worse than 1.57 which comes out to $172.70. Shipping to US is about $8 US so $118 comes out to approx. $185. International shipping is probably more....and you have to contend customs. I think if you could find someone that ships USPS (shop4tec) then you would save some money....but you may develop a headache.

yes.....exactly. I would say $10+ savings but big headache possible or ez-buy which is the best deal I have seen for Canada. There site kinda looks cheesy though. I would try and find out if anyone else has heard of them.
The disks are good quality and I have had no problems with them yet from meritline.
If you have specific burners and load hacked firmware you can get them going at 2X speed with no problems which is what I do. -
I might take a chance on some of the 4X Riteks. I have been using the Verbatim Datalife 2X which I have been getting for $3.49 each from Staples. I'm trying to get a spool price on those now.
-
I forgot, Me and my friend ordered from EZ-buy 100 Ritek G03. Shipping took 3 days (i'm far away from Vancouver) and so Far, Ritek disk work really great..
Will buy there again for sure.. -
Hi everyone,
I'm in Edmonton. Costco dropped their prices! You can get 4 TDK 2X DVD-R's for $12.88. That's a pretty good deal for very good quality. I have them working on getting Verbatim 4X DVD-R's. I'll let you know.

www.CanadaComputers.com has some very good prices. They also give you a break on certain brands,if you buy in bulk, and pay cash. www.Computers4You.com (hope I got the url right) also has decent prices and they also give price breaks on Optodiscs. Some good deals at these clandestine computer dealers here,www.PacificmallToronto.com. Bootleg central.
You guys will love it.

If you have disks shipped from the U.S. via usps, the only customs costs are $5 handling fee,and taxes.I've done it twice with shop4tech
Shipping by courier is a little more expensive because they pay these customs fees for you,and also charge for this service. It's faster, just a few dollars more.
It's still cheaper to buy in the U.S. with our dollar gaining some ground.
Riteks at Rima are $120 u.s. In the end it will be $2 can.or less.Hard to beat.

shop4tech is one of the very few that do ship usps.
shipping ups would cost you approx. $40 CDN just for brokerage fee. You still have to pay taxes.
Shop4tech is very good option though. All I've got in this world is my balls and my word.....
and I don't break them for no one! -
there are no brokerage fees when shipped by usps, only $5 handling fee and taxes. My last order cost $22.35 in taxes and $5 handling fee.
You only pay brokerage fee if it is shipped by courier, who pay taxes and handling fee for you and then add their brokerage fee when they deliver to your door.
Bradbmiller,ont.canada -
Did you just not repeat exactly what I said?
USPS = small handling fee + taxes.
UPS = large brokerage fee + taxes.
Almost all shipments go out UPS so shop4tech is a rare USPS shipper. All I've got in this world is my balls and my word.....
and I don't break them for no one! -
My mistake,i've got to start using my glasses more often when i read

I just got a 4 pack of TDK 2X DVD-Rs from Costco here in Vancouver for $12.99. Ran DVDinfo and media code came up as: ...TDKG02..000. They are also made in Japan and come in jewel cases.
Burned @ 2X on Pioneer A04 firmware 1.40 with no problems. Forget about Ritek at 1X without hack FW, these rock. -
Here is a place in Canada that sells PRINCO 4x at less 2 bucks each.
$85 for 50 and $160 for 100.
They will ship you a sample of their product.
I sent them an email and they replied right a away with a free sample to try out. The disk burnt 4x with no problems.
Here is the link:

I didn't see this in anyone else's post but there are 4 pages worth now so forgive me if its a repeat.
www.blankmedia.ca
I have ordered 700 discs without any problems. They sell Ritek G04 for $1.95 CDN and shipping is about $10 CDN. They are in Canada so there are no brokerage fees or duties. Delivery time is about 3 days.
I switched over to his AN31 4x discs at $1.30 CDN each as they turned out to be even more compatible than Riteks in some very old (circa 1998) dvd players (burned using my TDK 440n with herrie's hacked firmware).
If you are looking for a good US store, www.rima.com ships USPS International Express. The brokerage fee is a flat $7.50 and it will be on your doorstep in 3ish days. The prices still can't compete with www.blankmedia.ca though. -
I just bought tonight 2 packs of 5pcs of Maxell DVD-Rs (orange box, made in Japan) at Futureshop for $12.99 each, so after taxes it came down to $29.75 for 10 DVD-Rs. So, it CAD$2.98 per disk after taxes.
They are 2x and burn very well and seem to be reliable and durable (used them in the past too). -

Saw at Future Shop that they've got 5 Memorex (either + or -) for $15 and if you're lucky they've sometimes got Maxell's 5 for $13 (+, not sure about -)
Edit: Was just there today - price is now the other way around: Memorex are 5 for $13 and Maxell are at 5 for $16 (both decent prices in a pinch...)
