Slowly Im gettin this DVD-R stuff :)

Price is important but if the difference is less than $10-15 I won't bother with anyone else than rima.com.
Their customer service is the best I have had from any E-tailer.
Go to www.resellerrating.com and see how other media sellers screw people over sending wrong orders, losing orders, never answering e-mail or phonecalls. huh???, now try returning defective discs to these merchants, goodluck.
The $10 you saved won't go far and my TIME and MY Trouble is worth allot more than that.
Rima answer my calls, my e-mails and send my orders right the first time with competitive prices and shipping quotes. In have not seen one complaint in all the dvd related forums about rima.

It seems demand for DVD media is still not that great in Canada such that retailers are not buying in bulks to give us a break. There is another online store called www.greytech.com. Although I haven't bought from them, it is another store next to canadacomputers you can use for reference. They offer 1x Princo DVD-R at 25 for $49.95, therefore canadacomputers still cheaper at 1.99 each with sleeves. For this price, I would go for the better Ritek brand from Rima.com. With high shipping, and the possible duty, it is still cheaper (especially with the lower exchange rate now)!!

Make sure it is via USPS to avoid the UPS broker's fee. (After you placed your order, send an email to specify you want it by express USPS) If you get it shipped by UPS, you will paid your about US$24 shipping fee, and at the door, another say CAN$40 which includes broker fees and the tax UPS declared and paid at the border for you.

Office Depo/Staples
They have individual disks for sale, or if you want a pack, they can special order 'em for pretty good prices.Pobody's Nerfect -
At least a couple resellers are on Ebay Canada site. Gonna be a lot of bidders on those Riteks so you might want to ask if you can get a quote on disks without using Ebay. It saves the reseller $$ since they don't have to give any to Ebay. Currently Ritek G03 and G04 spools of 25 and 50 available...
-
Buying from eBay is a good idea too, but have to find one that is willing to ship to you via USPS and with a low value on the declaration. A lot of eBay Ritek sellers only ship by UPS with tracking to protect themselves on international orders.....at least the last time I looked.

I got my riteks from shop4tech.com.My first order of 50 cost $101.93 canadian including shipping. That was with usps ground. They never came,so i phoned them, and they reshipped via ups.It cost me $20.98 brockerage fees. This works out to $2.46 each.
I just ordered 100 riteks for $183.91 including shipping via usps air.If it costs $35 to pick them up at canada post(taxes and handling fee),it will work out to $2.20 each.
I'm sure Rima is close to the same price.A lot of suppliers in the U.S. don't ship international,so your choices are limited.bmiller,ont.canada -
bmiller, there shouldn't be any handling fee if shipped via USPS. You may even avoid paying taxes. Please let us know your out come.
-
I think it's a hit or miss with the post office regarding the $5 handling fee and taxes.Even with these added on the price is still hard to beat in Canada.
I have had to pay $5 handling fee when ordering from amazon.com
I expect them by the end of next week.I'll let you know.bmiller,ont.canada -
Here is the info I got from one of the Toronto resellers:
"For the Ritek Silver on Purple 4X (RITEKG04):
They are available for sale for $205 + shipping (only $4.10 CDN per 4X DVD-R).
They are also available at volume discount, $400 for 100 4X Ritek DVD-R
Spindle + shipping (only $4.00 per DVD-R) and should you need higher quantity, let me know. The Ritek 4X sell locally at $4.99 at CanadaComputers + 15% tax so you're looking at savings of over $1 each (25% off)"
Since I have no such resellers selling volume DVD-R blanks and I haven't dealt with US suppliers, is this a good deal or not? -
^I Think that price is pertty killer.. cause American supplier sell it for like $3.00 ea

Big difference still to Canada media sellers.
Rima.com still tops in my books. -
As I recall, the last time I had an item shipped by UPS, I still had to pay the brokerage fee even though I picked it up myself. This is why most people here ship to the U.S. border point (1/2 hour drive) and then turn around and return to Canada and pay their duty/taxes at the Canadian border. If you are getting around the brokerage fees somehow, then that would make a world of difference. Otherwise, shipping USPS would be okay. I take it your above price is for 100 Ritek G04 4X discs? The other problem is in buying ANYTHING in the U.S. and not being able to have it shipped to Canada. That's why I also use the aforementioned method. Works great for me...

^^ say , if i bought 100pk spindle from rima.com for $69.00+$11.00USD
so like $79.00USD =$115.81CAD , how much would tax be when it arriaves at me door? because this one guy off ebay is sellin 100pk of princo's for $160.00CAD with no tax or nothing shipped. so I was wondering which one is cheaperSlowly Im gettin this DVD-R stuff :) -

Don't be too sure on using assessed value based on the customs invoice. I bought a bottle of perfume for my Mum and it was $22.50 on the invoice. Canada Customs reassessed it at over $200! Needless to say, I am appealing that decision...

Well those in the Montreal area, passing by or willing to make the trip.
Frostys is now selling Ritek DVD-R media
Ritek Spinde of 100 1X -R $ 234.00
Ritek Pack of 10 1X -R $ 28.20
Ritek Single unit 4X $ 4.50
Prices include tax
http://www.frostys.qc.ca/e_products.phtml?category=media
Compared to ordering from rima.com final at your door price
Frosty's is About $20 more if you do the UPS legwork routine, about the same price shipped USPS and if you ship UPS and let them custom broker it than it's cheaper at frostys in quantity of 100. Your gas driving from far away was not factored. -

Herbapou you da man!
My order at rima from last thusday was ready for pickup at UPS distro center Lachine QC. I had called them on Monday for a hold and That I would clear customs myself. NP. I keep an eye on web tracking and this morning the web said it was ready. I called them to double check the paperwork was ready for me. It wasn't. Called back 2 hours later and paperwork was ready. Drove in, picked up paperwork at UPS. Drove 5 mins away to old customs building. Yeehaw it was empty got served right away. No duty and paid tax on the declared value of invoice PST GST came to $23. Drove back to UPS gave back paperwork and took my dvd-r's. So 100 riteks plus 10 dupez dvd-r plus shipping was $180 on my credit card plus $23 for tax. Was $203 Cdn.
Rima + UPS + Doing your own customs clearance is definately cheapest way to get dvd media in Canada -
These are Ritek G04's right? Just want to make that clear before I send out any money...
