  1. My PC config:
    cpu: Celeron 466mhz
    motherboard: Asus P3BF
    ram: 256mb
    hd: 30GB x 2, 16GB, 6.4GB
    display card: ATI Expert Play
    Capture card: Pinnacle DC30plus
    Sound card: SBlive value
    --------------------------------
    My situtation:
My computer uses 12hrs to encode 45mins video to SVCD format. Therefore I want to upgrade my PC to P4 1.4GB, Asus P4T motherboard and other parts remain unchange.
    I have the followings questions?

    1. How many time will be used to encode the same video using the new system?
    2. Is ATI Expert Play display card compatiable with P4T?
    3. Is DC30plus compatiable with P4T?

    Thank you!

    1) Hard to say, but it will a LOT faster.
    2) Who knows? Do they even make those anymore? Your video card may become the bottleneck in your new system if it's too old.
    3) Don't know.

  3. Well I have a 1200 mhz and I can encode a vcd in 3 1/2 hours.
    Svcd in 5 hours.
    I have

    Athlon 1200 mhz
    500 meg Ram
    ATA 100 60 gig HD
VooDoo 5 64 meg video card
    SB 128

    So around there somewhere.
