Does anyone know why when I setup VDub to capture in overlay mode the picture is fine, but when i switch over to preview mode the picture turns purple and green with horrible display. I tried capturing like this but the resulting .avi looked the same as the previous picture in preview mode. I am running a ATI All in Wonder 128 and installed Divx 3,4,5, Nimo, Huffy, and MJPEG codecs. When I use ATI Multimedia Center to capture it works fine but I really sant to use Vdub because of all the options.

Try turning off the Preview and Overlay modes while capturing.
Hello. -
Just tried that but the resulting .avi file is still just a horrible mess of purple and green images. Question for all of you : when you first start up capture .avi in VDub, before actually beginning capturing, which picture quality is better on your screen, preview or overlay, or are they the same? From what I understand overlay should be (if DMA is turned on) a little bit better than preview but in my case the picture quality in preview (horrible) is nothing like the quality in overlay mode (excellent).

I've tried PICVideo MJPEG and Huffy codecs, as for my screen color depth... I'm not sure what that is?
