  1. Hello
    I captured 2 hours of video into 2.5Gb MPEG2.
I see the movie on the PC, where I captured it, but on many other places I hadn't succeed with it. XP Movie maker could not import it.
I tried to split the file with winzip and reopen it on another pc, but the file could not be opened.
do you know of special formats that XP uses in creating the mpeg2 file.
what can be the reason that ?

    thanks

  2. The format of the mpeg-2 file has nothing to do with XP but is dependant on the encoder that created it. From what you say I guess it was an encoder that came with your capture card. In order to play it back on another PC you need to ensure an mpeg-2 decoder is installed, these do not come as part of a standard windows installation unlike mpeg-1 decoders.

If you want to spli the file to burn it onto multiple CD's in order to move it to another PC, I would suggest using the merge and split utility of the Mpeg tools in TmpGenc.
