I always see some players claiming that they can read cd-r/cd-rws. What does it mean actually? Besides being able to play mp3s off those discs.

I think it means it will play CDs written on CD-R & CD-RW in addition to shop-bought CDs, (which I think are pressed, rather than burned).

yea they are pressed, not burned, reason why you cant see a data line on them. i also think when it says it reads cd-r and cd-rw it can play vcd and svcd. im not too sure, but i would bet SOME of my money on it
