  4. isn't this just another rip off of that studio copy thing? of course they all rip off freeware to make a profit claiming that we're actually just paying for the guides (which can also be found free, and prolly better too) and for the live tech support..

  6. Oh yay. Another post about miracle DVD copying software. DVD-Rs are on their way up, and it's starting to happen fast too. Drives and media are getting REALLY cheap. I don't care what anyone says, but VCD just doesn't cut it I find, so DVD-R it will be. (I bet this software will cost more than a DVD-R drive anyhow LOL)

  7. What annoys me about these software other then the spam is the extreme deception. They make it sound as if the quality is as good as the original DVDs and you aren't losing anything. In fact, the newer breed aren't so bad as the older bread which made it sound as if you were actually making DVDs. They still make wildly inaccurate claims tho. Like that one claims you can't copy DVD Movies with a DVD drive. Say what? Of course, there is the problem of dual layer and you need the right software but then again so too with S/VCDs.

I read a little deeper into the FAQ of this "amazing" product and found this:
Q: Can DVD copies be played on a standard DVD Player?
A: Most DVD copies can be played on a standard DVD Players, provided the DVD Player supports Video CD (VCD) or SVCD format. Most DVD Players manufactured within the last three years support the standard Video CD format. Refer to your DVD Player owners manual for more information to check on the VCD compatibility of your DVD Player.
Looks like DVD2SVCD except you get to pay for it

What will be the end of DVD writers is a similar device with storage media of over 4 gb useable space. 4 gbs for 2 hrs of programming just isn't enough for Mpeg 2. You really need the 9 gb of dual layer discs to approach the 9Mbps max for 2 hrs of programming and get quality output. That either means Mpeg4/Corona players with our current limitation of 4 gb or 9 gb plus blank media at an agreeable price. However, a home dv cam movie encoded high bitrate on a DVD+/- R with about an hour of programming is very nice. Just my 2 cents.

  10. Read that up to 80 layers or something may be possible with DVD. Dunno if this has been achieved although I have the idea that 5 layers at least is currently possible. However you will probably need new players although some might work with firmware updates? Of course, I dunno whether it will be possible to create multilayer DVD-Rs although I reckon it will...

Of course, blu-ray (or perhaps even violet-ray or ultra-violet ray) may take over instead...

Oh and btw, forgot to ask. How do these bullshit pieces of crap survive? Doesn't the RIAA hound them like crazy with the DCMA? Or do they operate out of Europe or something? Still importing to US will get them into deep shit.
