I am new to the encoding world, but I am PC literate and have figured out how to download AVI, convert it to mpg1 and burn to VCD and watch it on my stand alone DVD player. The quality is watchable, but I am interested in trying SVCD as my new Toshiba sd-3800 supports it. I have used TMPGenc to encode to SVCD following VCDHELPS instructions, it seems to encode it to SVCD as it gets to 100% no prob, but here is my problem. Easy CD Creator 5 platinum does not reacognize it as the right format, gives me error mesgs. Also, cannot playback file in Windows media 9 either. What am I doing wrong? What am I missing? I downloaded all kinds of Codecs, does it sound like I'm missing a codec needed? Any help appreciated, I thank you in advance.
    Sincerely,

  2. use VCDEasy to make yourself a cue/bin file. If you want to test before you burn you can mount the cue file with Daemon tools and play it in your software DVD player just as if it were a CD.

  3. Can Easy CD creator burn SVCD?

I'd definitely check out VCDEASY or NERO, as I believe both of those can do SVCD.

or, if you aren't interested in getting new burning software(although I would recommend dumping Roxio in favor of Nero, or CDRWin), I would do as easydvd said, and use VCDeasy and then daemontools, but instead of watching on software DVD, do a straight disc copy of the virtual CD you made w/daemontools. that should work every time without a problem
what are you askin' me for...

well duuhhh, roxio doesn't burn SVCD....I am going for NERO. Also, I have read somewhere that you can overburn the time cap on a cdr, anyone know how this is done and does it effect quality? Thanks
