  1. I've take a 40min home video project & burned to dvd.The original MPEG2 file I used plays great on my computer, the burned dvd plays great in my burner on the computer also. The problem occurs on standalone players(and I've tried several). When it plays back if there are any scenes where the camera pans quickly or lots of action occurs the dvd playback is very glitchy, otherwise playback is fine.I'm using the dvd+r format.

    Any advise is greatly appreciated

    Thank you--thepert

"Glitchy" playback on a standalone is usually a sign of low bitrate. Do you know what bit rate was used to create the .mpg?

  3. The transfer rate I had it set to was 8Mbits/s set at a constant transfer rate.I'm begining to wonder if that is the actual rate I achieved during the encoding process.

    Thank you for responding

for compatability -- 8000 is often to high on a lot of media/player combinations -- i suggest a CQ or VBR set at max 6000 - 6800 will often produce better compatibility and even better quality than CBR at 8000 in many cases...

CBR does NOT mean the bit rate remain constant .. contrary to some beliefs..

  6. I'm going to take your advise and burn my next dvd at a lower bitrate and I'll adjust to VBR instead of CBR. I hope this is my answer, I'll let you know how it goes.Thank you for taking the time and effort to help.
