  1. ...that my dvd-rom is not capable of ripping DVD's? I am trying to rip Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon with SmartRipper and it can unlock vts_01_0.vob through vts_01_2.vob, but can't unlock vts_01_3.vob or beyond. I tried unlocking it with a player, but the player can't play it either. The disc is not scratched. The drive is a Prime Peripherals 8x. I am running Win2k on an AMD 900 w/ 768 megs of RAM and a 30 gig hd. Any guesses on this? I also had a similar problem with another DVD.

  2. I had the same problem with a swedish title.

Had to give it up. The DVD was not scratched. And I tried
    different rippers with no luck.

  3. But I tried it on Requiem With A Dream as well, and I got the same problem. Clearly I'm doing something wrong here.

  4. My first thought is that you should clean the disc and prehaps your DVD player. If that doesn't work, double check to make sure all your IDE connections are secure, after that I'm at a lost

  5. I'm sure the disc isn't scratched. The drive is brand new, so it shouldn't be dirty. And the connections are good since I can read from the drive and watch the movie up until it gets to vts_01_03.vob...

  6. Have you ripped any other title that worked?

I've ripped alot of titles with smartripper and all with
success. I only had problem with the swedish title.
smartripper unlocked 3-4 vobs the rest was not unlocked.
When I tried to play the dvd it started ok until it came to
a point in the movie and hang. Then I tried to copy the vobs
of the dvd with smartripper "Files" option the first 3-4
worked then it stopped. It could not rip the remaining 3
    vobs.

I tested to rip with smartripper, cladDVD and DVD Encrypter
they all had problems with the same files.

  7. I have this problem if I try to rip a DVD from my Laptop DVD-Rom.

What I have to do on my laptop is start watching the movie with the DVD player and then pause it. (this unlocks the movie)

Then open up smartripper and rip the movie.

Give it a shot, works for me.
