  1. Thanks to all for the help. I have successfully captured, authored, edited, converted, and burned from DV to DVD+RW.

If I want to be able to make copies of my DVD+RW's, do I need to save the edited DV file, the converted MPEG file, or can I make copies directly from the DVD+RW?

I tried to use TMPG to convert first, but I don't have any burn software, and Pinnacle will not burn from MPEG converted in another tool, so I used Pinnacle to convert/burn. Now I have a 12GB DV file (captured), I have a 12GB DV file (edited), and a 1.8GB MPEG file (finished DVD).

I need to clean up to get more space, and I don't want to delete a file needed to make my copies.

  2. Reding back copy of VIDEO_TS folder on DVD is, what You have to do.
And then just burn with Nero or another burning (not video editing) SW as DVD-Video again. Also direct copy of disc image is OK (or even better).

Have you tried just to do a dvd-copy with for example Instant DVD or Nero? The video is not encrypted or anything so it should work. Or else just copy the VIDEO_TS folder and burn as DVD-Video with any dvd-video burning tool as epo says

  4. Thanks for the reply.

If I understand correctly, as long as I have the DVD disc, I can delete all the files on my hard drive related to making the movie.

Then when I want to make a duplicate disk, I can either do a dvd-copy or just copy the VIDEO_TS folder and burn using Nero.

Before I delete all the files from hard drive, could someone give me a quick nod that this is OK. Thanks much.

  5. Baldrick -

I just checked Nero's website, and the current version does not handle copying DVD's.

I will try Instant DVD. Thanks.
