For the past 3 days (on and off), I've been struggling with backing up Goodfellas. The DVD is two-sided. Both sides copy OK with CLAD. Both sides go through TMPGenc fine. When I use SpruceUp on part 1, I get an error towards the end (99%). Part 2 spruces fine.
As a result, not all the files in VIDEO_TS are there in part 1.

I have also tried joining parts 1 and 2 in TMPGenc and doing a single run in Spruce, but then Spruce crashes out to the desktop after 3 %.
Any suggestions would appreciated at this point.

    Thanks,
    Patrick

  2. I wish I could assist in your DVD back up to DVD. I just backed up Goodfellas to SVCD however, and was pleased to find the following. Ripped each side to a folder , opened the side A files , appended the side B files. Total time still showed 72.5 minutes. On the bitrate tab, selected 1 CD for up to 75 minutes , but designated it as a 1200 mb CD. Hit go and ended up with 3 cue files of 805 mb for burning. Don't exactly understand how , but it worked.

    When you say appended...
Did you just add the .VOB files from side b to the folder containing side A?

Didn't that overwrite a bunch of files? I thought that they had similar numbers, which is why I didn't try that...

  4. Yes , after loading side A VoB's by clicking on the folder, then I clicked on the dots to the right of the folder. Then I selected all 4 remaining VOB's and added. ( caution, required proper re-ordering ). File time still said 72.5 minutes, but after tricking the encoding bitrate as indictated, worked great. BTY , first tried to assign 1.5 discs of 800 mb , but it didn't like that, thus the 1 + 1200 mb.

    drdy111956:

    Thank You !!!

I went intothe folder of side B, renamed all the vob's to have sequential numbers to side A, re-ran dvd2avi, reran TMPGenc and reran Spruce.

I just burnt my first test backup and it works fine!

    Learn something every day.

    Thanks again.
