  1. Hi any help would be appreciated.

I downloaded the demo of ulead dvd moviefactory, seemed just what i want, easily burn mpegs with chapters and menus, even works with non-standard (xvcd) mpegs but...

if i burn a movie with it, the audio goes out of sync near the end when played on dvd player, and if i open the .dat file with media player.

burn the same mpeg with nero and it plays fine on both, but no fancy chapter selection menus.

searched the forums am i the only one with this problem, please help if you can as i'll buy it if i cure this prob, TIA....

I'm having this problem sort of, but only on one file so far. The audio gets out of sync in the last 10 minutes of the movie if I burn with a menu. If I burn (with Movie Factory or VCDEasy) without a menu, it plays fine.

Ulead has a patch for this problem, but it didn't work for me. They say the patch is to correct audio sync probs with a hardware encoder but it doesn't help in every case.

Like you, I wanted this software because it's easy to use to make good looking menus and chapters.

I was able to get around this by splitting the movie with TmpGenc first to fit onto vcd, then use the export under Author, Load the mpeg then select create vcd title, and stepping thru the process at the end of which, it burns the vcd including intro movie and chapters. The only problem remaining however, is that the foward and reverse buttons on my samsung DVD-V100 DVD/VHS player does not switch between the chapter pages but I can use the console buttons for it instead.

  4. Cheers redeye07, at least i know i'm not alone. i tried the patch too but no use. as for coredneck, it's possible as i'm burning well below the vcd specs to cram a whole movie on 1 cd that's the problem, but wouldn't it tell me earlier it didn't like the mpeg i'd made (with tmpgenc)

may try burning a vcd compliant file and see if that works.

i did think (naively?) i could burn the fancy cd onto a cdrw, then copy the nero-burnt .dat file onto that cd and hey presto problem solved, but win xp wouldn't let me 'swap' the .dat files. another good idea that didn't work out, story of my life!

LOL!! Good try (swaping the dat files). That's using your brain.

I'm encoding right now (TMPGEnc) to VCD compliant (which means poor quality for me) to see if I can get this figured out.

It's always something, ain't it? Arrrgh.

Well since I am burning standard vcd's might be why it is working for me. My only problem left to solve at the moment is being able to get an autorun file onto the vcd when I burn it. Any suggestions in that area?

  7. this is due to the ligios codec being installed, download dxmani and uninstall that and that sorts out the lipsync problem..took me ages to figure this one out!

  8. thanks man glad someone thought that was a good idea, turned out another pc-related red herring. my friend once formatted and reinstalled his whole pc as his modem wouldn't work...he had spent days downloading drivers and posting to forums...turned out he hadn't plugged the phone lead back in to the back TRUE STORY he's a clever guy too..!!

i found dxmani.exe but there are 4 ligos plug-ins listed, which ones do i remove?? i've got nothing to lose as i'm gonna reformat in a few days anyway but would appreciate a pointer. nothin' to offer but grateful thanks...
