  1. Hey guys, new guy here, was just wondering though how long it would take a ASF file to convert to a MPG file, I tried it one tonight, it was a 20 minute ASF file, I went to the store while it was converting and came back, it said it only had 1 hour and 20 minutes to go, but I started checking my e-mail etc, then it went all the way up to 3 hours and 40 minutes, Am I not suppose to be running anything during the Conversion? Im also using TMPEnc, Any help would be appreciated.

What is your system? What type of compression is the asf using? I am running a 900 t-bird and It can take a while but it all really depends on your processor speed. When I upgraded to 256mb ram it didnt change how fast it was going, not even by a hair.

Yes, it's normal for encoding time to increase when using other applications while encoding. Since your RAM is quite small (yes, 128MB is minimum these days) and TMPG is VERY CPU intensive, the encoding time will increase.

I've got 384MB and the same thing happens to me, although not by that much.
