Hi, I'm new to ripping DVD's. Have 1 succesful disk (music DVD) so far. I recently tried to rip "Mr. Deeds" as this was the first movie in my hands since the above. Used Smart Ripper 2.41 and Ifoedit to try to play it. No go. Tried region free option and - same result. I resaved IFO's and tried "Get VTS..." still black screen. None of the IFO's seem to allow playback. I can play most VOB's using WinDVD but out of 4 VOB's (there's more but these seem to be the ones) 1'st is squeezed 16:9 to 4:3, second is in French, third is Directors Comments etc. There is no way I could even play this thing from my HD in full. In ATI file player stutters badly although WinDVD playback seems to be OK except for this: it does not play the movie in sequence. I think guys who have seen it know what I mean. Everything points to the bad rip or maybe I'm missing something (like wrong decode key or so...). Although I've read most guides nowhere is the info about possible well-known issues and quick fixes (if they exist). There is sthg I did not do though, I did not play movie in the drive before ripping (though "unlock drive" was checked). Question:
-is this due to copy protection or bad rip?
-can any movie be ripped and played from the HD (using SR 2.41 or Decryptor) - I guess I still lack full confidence inn the tools... ?
-the other disk I have won't play due to region issue (map screen) even though it was region 1 (OK!). Tried region free option In Ifoedit -no go. same message - unplayable. Movies I ripped are Canadian editions.
Would appreciate your help and insight..... Thanks
