Hey guys,
I have been reading through all of the previous posts about the firmware upgrade on the 104. I bought one of the Cendyne 104 models from OfficeMax on Saturday and just checked the firmware version using the utility from Pioneer. It is at 1.30 with a manufacturing date of July 2002. It has on the sticker on the drive about being made by Pioneer.
I did see Pioneer's notice about the need to upgrade to avoid overheating problems. I also saw many people here saying after upgrading their firmware they had some problems with dics that wrote at 2x before not able to do but 1x after the upgrade. I understand from one poster that the disc table that Pioneer includes in the firmware determines the blank used and what speed it's capable of.
So what's the general vote here? Should I upgrade to the latest or just stick with the 1.30 since I read once you upgrade you can't flash back down.
Thanks..
Rick

at least go to 1.31, i've read that is the best one. as far as 2-4x media goes i would wait on that if i had the choice again.
pioneer is having probs with the 1.32+ firmware so i would get 1.31 and wait out the issues pioneer is having.
ps.... how often do you blindly put media into a writer? i always know what write speed my media is at -
Thanks for the replies guys..
I downloaded and installed 1.31 and I will leave it there until I see more positive notes about the next firmware upgrade..
