divx5.0 and virtual dub

i have a movie(div5.0) that is just a bit long to fit on 700 mb cd. i tried to split it using virtual dub but got this error: "could not locate the compressor for format 'DX50' (unknown)"

Can you play it in WMP coz this usually means you don't have the right codec installed. Download and install the divx 5.0 codec or better still, install the Nimo codec pack and solve nearly all your codec problems.

i can play the movie in divx player and also in windows media BUT I cannot split in virtual dub.
