Hello all. I use various programs such as iuVCR, VirtualDub, AVI_IO and others. All work great to capture the video/audio. What I need now is a small, free program to capture ONLY the audio. I would prefer to capture it direct to MP3, but if necessary to capture it to WAV and re-process it later I can.

Please, does anyone know of such a tool? Or what about any app that captures audio/video with the ability to turn the video capture part off?

    Thanks!

Sorry ya'll but sound recorder is very buggy & only saves a little amount of time before crashing. Plus encode to MP3 is very slow.

I finally found the perfect application for this, it's called Messer. Anyone else in the future who wants to do what I tried to do, check it out.

Umm with this program I can capture directly from the line-in of my sound card. The recording is done directly to MP3 files at whatever bitrate I want.. And I can record hours of audio without any problems. I can even schedule times of day for things to encode. The best thing is that it's free 100% and so is the lame mp3 codec used to encode the mp3.

Thx again for those who posted ideas.
