  1. I am trying to convert some MPEG 2 (.mp2) files to MPEG 1 using TMPGenc, but it wont allow me to open it. It says "can not open, or unsupported". Do I need a codec to open MPEG 2 files in TMPGenc?? Or is there a problem with my MPEG 2 files, which I captured using an All in wonder radeon 7500?? Thanks for any help. Later days.

  2. In order to open mpeg-2 files in TmpGenc you need to have one of a small number of mpeg-2 codecs installed. Do a search on the forum for more info as this has been discussed many times.

  3. if you do have mpeg codec installed-try fixing the file-either with tmpenc mpeg tools:File ->mpeg tools->simple multiplex; or any of the mpeg utilities under tools on this site. for me tmpenc worked better, but your file may be screwed in different way...

  4. First if you use older version of TMPGEenc like 12x then you can't encode mpeg-2 directly. If you use new version then you can but with mpeg-2 code (have to pay if you don't know the right source).

Walk around way, you can load mpeg-2 file into dvd2avi, save project as "d2v" and "wave" file. Now you can load d2v as video source and wave as audio source without any worry of mpeg-2 code or version.
