  1. I have a new cd writer hp cd-writer cd12ri. I recieved some software with it but I can not burn a cd with it. I can not get ezcd creater to even see the writer, I dont think Nero see's it either when ever I get to the choice to write cd it wants me to choose a file to place the date file in. I am not making a data file. Yes I choose vcd. I have 2 computers Nero works fine on the other computer. I notice at the lower right had corner of nero it says Image recorder where as on the other computer it gives the name of my cd writer. I have searched Nero to see if I can tell it to see a cd writer but alas to no avail you are my last resort.
I have even called HP they are no hlep at all. I have paid someone to come in and help he could not help.

  4. PS I do not use ez cd creater. It doesnt compare to nero. Nero didnt see the HP nor did ez cd creater all it would see was its own software. Once I replaced it I had no problems at all. I usggest you take it back and get another cd burner. There is a link on this site that shows you what cd drives that will work with Nero. If Im not mistaken the hp12i wasnt there when I looked.

  5. sounds like your burner is set up as a slave on the ide chain. move it into a primary position (make sure all jumpers are set right) and see if that clears things up. also check in your device manager and make sure windows is not reporting any problems for the device.
    peace out,
