I've tried DVD2SVCD. I've tried DVDx. Neither worked. I'm through trying to make SVCD's (for the moment...), but I haven't given up on VCD'sI need to know the absolute best way to make VCD's that will give me the best quality. I don't mind having a movie span 2 disks. I'm more concerned with the quality. The movies will be viewed on a regular tv through a stand-alone player. Please enlighten me because I've spent WAY too much time with SVCD with no results. Not saying that I've given up SVCD's, but until I get the problems worked out, I'll stick to VCD's.

Use TMPGENC standard template and change to best quality (slowest) and patiently wait for it to finish.
Might take days but quality is very good -
What was the problem with DVD2SVCD, the only problem I have with it concern subtitles, the video has always been excellent?
But to do it all 'by hand' take a look at:
