  1. Hi! Can anyone help me play my vcd's on my lap top? One works automatically but most do not. when i tried to open them using the advice given, i accidentally opened it with 'movie player' (which is bad!) instead of media player and my comp will not let me open them with anything else. The icons for the mpeg, (or is it mgav?) files now all have the movie player logo even though i have deleted it from my computer. Can anyone offer me some advice as im living in south korea and have no entertainment after teaching on week days except for korean tv. please help, many thanks, dean crawford!

  2. Highlight the file you want to open by single clicking on it with the left mouse button.
Then hold down the shift key and right click on the file.
This should bring up a data box with various options on, the first one is OPEN - ignore that.

The second one should say OPEN WITH.

Select this option and it brings up all the different programmes for you.

Select the programme you want to open with ( media player in this case) and follow the prompts. It will reassign the correct icon to your files automatically

Hint: If you are ever unsure that you are selecting the correct programme to open any given file, uncheck the tickbox that says "always use this programme to open" (or words to that effect).
Once you have the correct programme opening the correct files , you can always follow this through again and check the tickbox.

Hope this isn't too complicated for you, it is a lot esier to do, than it is to describe how to do it.
