Logix 3000 Macrovision Hack?

Newbie Question:

I've had a look in the DVD hack section and found my DVD Player - Logix3000. I want to disable the macrovision on this so I can record to video tape. I have managed to get the Menu up so I can check my firmware version, but am unsure as to which number it is?

Can anyone help me?

ps. Can I damage my Player by doing this?

Anyway, can anyone tell me how to upgrade my DVD player's firmware? I have a .rom file and have been told to burn it to CD-R and put it into my DVD player? Is that all I need to do?
