  1. I down loaded red dragon off of kazaa. i then extracted the audio into a wav file. then i used tmpge to converted it to ntcs because the origonal format was 352X240 14.985 fps and this web sit said to convert all odd fps to ntcs. i burned it with nero. it works in my dvd player but the screen
freezes alot for a few seconds then catches back up with the audio. very anoying no way to sit and watch it. the audio is smoth and not a problem.
ok that said i down loaded unbreakable the movie from kazaa it was in 640x272 23.976 fps format did the same thing to it that i did to red dragon except converted it to ntcs film . it works gets a slight skip in video
but i can deal with it. is this skipping normal for vcd or am i doing something wrong i used the steps on this sight wich were great and easy to understand. help for the newbie woulde be great thanks

ok i figured it out the default on tmpge bitrate was 2550 i lowered it to 2300 and the skips were gone. also went to svcd. dont know if that helped or not but the bit rate helped alot . my dvd player was cheap woulde a better dvd player be able to handle the 2550 bitrate any comments woulde be apreciated. thanks.

  2. I guess you are converting to SVCD, as 2520 is rather high for VCD. Actually 2520 is the default bitrate for SVCD in the TmpGenc template but may be a little high for some players (though it really shouldn't be!), so drooping this down a little as you have solved your problem.

Skipping could also be due to a minor media/player incompatibility. i.e, your DVD player may be having some slight difficulties reading the CD and has to re-try occasionally to read without errors. You could try different brand media to see if this helps.

  3. Two things your player might not like 23.976 encodes, aleast my apex doesn't. Thats why I encode everything to 29.97. Secondly your movie with the 14.985 might not be enough frames to start with when you try to encode it with tmpgnc.
