My machine has a video card with TV out so I decided to buy a couple of VCDs to watch. The quality isn't bad, but there are a couple of things I was curious about. When I watch the VCD the screen is small so it's not much fun watching that way. When I make it full screen, though the quality decreases. Is there any way around this? Any software, hardware, settings, etc?

Well a better cable(s-video or monster cables for rca)might make it look better but really there is no way around this. Thats just how a vcd looks when u strech it out full screen

Yes hardware dvd players delever the SAME quality. The apeal is that they are cheap(u can get many vcds like The Waterboy,End OF Days for example for only 5 bucks). The quality of MOST VCD is VHS however, some may look like s-vhs or better it just depends what the video is off of(vhs,laserdisc,dvd.8mm film) another awesome thing about vcd is they are easy to burn to another cd AND there is no macrovision!( if u tape a dvd to a vhs tape it blocks it out) but with vcd u can just tape it! Also vcds can play in a standard laptop with a NORMAL CDROM DRIVE not DVD ROM DRIVE. So if u have a laptop already like alot of working people u cn watch movies on the run! VCDs can also play almost all dvd players, lots of laserdisc players, dreamcast(with boot disc) playstation(with "movie card"
,saturn(with "movie card", CDi(with nothing),3DO(with "movie card"
. Also on vcd TONS of movies come out that are just in the theater(they are bootlegged) ,but some have good quality.I perfer VCD to DVD actually. I'm gonna buy like 5 vcds(including Cast Away,Dude Wheres My Car and Happy Gilmore) for only around 30-34 bucks. But with dvd it would be ALOT more. Thats the apeal of VCD!
