    Hi,

Has anyone tested the Terran/Discreet Media Cleaner?
According to TECO http://www.tecoltd.com/enctest/enctest.htm, it is quite bad for MPEG-2 encoding -- even if Adobe and other big companies bundle it in their products.

I didn't find an MPEG-1 comparison test, though.

    Cheers

it is really bad .. slow and bad quality .. when i say slow i mean so slow that you think it has crashed or something ....

adobe i dont think bundles it in any product -- at least non of the products i have ... maybe a demo but i never pay attention to the demos that come with adobe products.

I tried Adobe Premiere 6 (the tryout version) some time ago. It is using Cleaner Lite for exporting to MPEG. I cannot verify this, but I heard that the full version uses the same method. Is this incorrect? Does Adobe have its own MPEG encoder?

It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Slow. Here at work we are giving it a try and thus far it has taken 7 hours to encode a 10 min clip using the 3ivx codec, and it's only 3/4 done! Quicktime Pro can do this in under an hour.

adobe 6.5 uses the Main Concept encoder and is very fast and produces excellent results with the right settings
