    I downloaded tmpgenc i encoded a movie i downloaded from kazaa went threw the steps with the wizard and it went good so I tried another movie did every thing the same and it would not show playback in the preview screen, the screen was black so i went to enviro. settings and uped my direct movie to 2 and still no preview screen it is doing this on every movie I try to encode please help someone suggested i try loading it in to "virtual dub" and see if it accepts this if it does use it to frame serve tmpgenc i have no ideal what virtual dub is of what frame serving is please help

    there can be 2 things that are wrong...
    1) you haven't enabled PREVIEW: OPTION -> PREVIEW OPTION -> DISPLAY WITH THINNING

    2) You're missing a codec...
    DLL the NIMO CODEC PACK you'll find under the TOOLS section of this site
    (i'm wondering howmany times I've allready written that)
