  1. I have six quite short voice-over videos (of my father hunting in the New Zealand Mountains in the 1960's). they are each about 20min long each and I would like for him to be able to provide sets of these to friends with DVD players using CD-R's. I know that I can use VCD formats with hardware DVD players and CD-R's but this degrades already questionable quality video. Because the movies are so short, can i use the DVD formats on a CD-R and would most players read them. I'm new to this so please excuse this is its exceedingly dumb.

  2. What you are talking about is miniDVD, it can be done but is compatible with very few stand alone DVD players. Your best bet is probrably SVCD, better quality than VCD with still good compatability on DVD players. Although not as compatible as VCD.
