I would suggest getting the shareware application called Sound App. It converts files... I frequently use it to convert short MP3 files into AIFF, but you can use it to convert to WAV. I'm not sure if there is a limit on length because it isn't registered.
You can also use Sound Edit 16 if you have access to it.
If you can get it into AIFF format.... take an old version of Quicktime Movie player (like 2.1 to 2.3) and put (don't install) on your hard drive. Then open the AIFF file with that by drag and drop. It doesn't matter if you have quicktime 3,4, or 5 because the old player will still work.
Why use the old player? Because you can do an export from it. Just like you would do with Quicktime Pro! Get the benefits of quicktime pro without having it.
How do you get an old copy of the player? Look on old mac addict disks or mac world disks (back in the day when installers were allowed to be distributed), or even on a old OS 7.x CD. How else can you do it without all the hassle? Spend the money, or spend the time looking for free software on http://www.hotfiles.com, http://www.cnet.com, http://www.jumbo.com, or whatever your source for shareware/freeware.
    Hope this helps

Sound Edit 16 won't convert an MP3 file. You have to convert it first to another format.

Of course Sound App will convert it directly from MP3 to WAV, and it is free for trial, and of course if you continue to use it you should probably register it.

I think a URL for it is:
