making mpg files smaller

hey, im new to this, and i have made 2 vcd in mpg format, but the files are too big to fit on one cd, is there a way i can make the files smaller?

this would be a big help!

also, when i am encoding a dvd, does this usually take about 5 hours to do, cause mine does?

any info would help

Use this guide to make a movie fit on one CD.

And some DVDs do take a while to burn. I suggest you burn it while you sleep.

ya, it's perfectly normal, like a DVD is at least 4.8 Gbs or burning work to do...
