  1. A newbie question here.
I'm trying to make a backup copy of the movie,The Matrix.
    The softwares I use are:
DVD Decrypter -used for ripping and burning
    IFOEdit -used for editing
    REMPEG2 -used for reencoding
ImgTools-used to make an img image

I won't bore you with the process of how I ripped,edited,reencoded,etc.. as I have successfully backup about 10 movies now.

My problem is when I test the files that I have created in IFOEdit(loading VIDEO_TS.IFO and hitting the "DVD Play" button). The movie starts out fine but when it gets into the scene where the female character finishes beating up the cops(maybe 5 or so minutes into the movie), the scene repeats itself (with some distortions) and then goes on with the rest of the movie.
I've checked the main movie's ifo files(I think on this one it's VTS_02_0.IFO and I see a description that says IIvu(I think) on some of the scenes.Might this cause the problems? Is so, is there any way to correct or get rid of it?
Anybody out there have this problem too?
I was wondering whether there's a setting I have not checked or marked when ripping, editing, etc., for this particular movie?
Any advice or tips on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. Do you get this error when playing the mpeg file on your pc. If not it can probrably be attributed to a write error during the burning process. Try burning again at a lower speed and see if this fixes the problem

  3. mpojeep,

this is a problem with the movie the Matrix in particular - the scene you're talking about where Trinity fights the cops has a 'multiangle' feature (or something like that) which confuses your encoder when it's trying to make a 'linear' version of the movie.

It takes a while to get around this, but it's not rocket science - I'm afraid I can't remember exactly how you do it - but it involves ripping all files (I use smartripper, but DVD Decrypter will do fine I believe) and then using IFOEdit to generate a linear version of the movie from the vobs it has available. There's a function in IFO Edit called something obvious like "remove mulitangle" - just use that.

Then encode from the new files IFO Edit spits out and you should be fine.

Loads of other DVD's have this too, but the Matrix was one of the first - consequently, you should be able to find quite a lot on the web about how to back it up successfully - try searching on this forum & on google.

    ' hope that helps,

    mcdruid.

  4. I don't remember having problems with this specific one, but I can sure remember having problems like that before. I solved mine by using another ripper for that movie, vStrip seems to be good at everything Goo luck!

  5. With DVDdecrypter, under settings, file mode, select multiangle
    processing and select angle 1.
