I was in a big VCD kick about a year ago and haven't done anything with it since then...now with DVD burners getting so cheap, dvd back up is perking my interest. I just wanted to know are you people having great success in backing movies up on dvd and actaully being able to get them to play on your set top player?

Is there a particular DVD recorder that is great for backups?
Is there a particular set top player for playing DVD-R back up? I was planning on buying a Panny RP-91 or RP-82

Forgive me if these answers can be found elsewhere...i don't have time right now while working to look it up..so any replies would be appreciated.

  2. 50 movies and counting. 8) All work on my set top and my X-Box. As for what burner to use you may want to look into the Pioneer models for your PC or the Panasonic one for your set top.

  7. Go for the Sony DRU500A, it will burn pretty much every type of DVD out there and the price is very reasonable. I have one and love it! Or hey I would be glad to sell you my old DVD-r burner...works great. Seriously buy the Sony and you will wonder why you didnt start ripping DVD movies sooner.

  11. I have a Pioneer A04 and it burns great, and plays on my Sony DVP-336 just fine. I use Pioneer media mostly and generally burn to RW so I can erase and use again later.
