Foget about the quality as i never set up bitrates etc.
Just tell me what u think looks better.
The orignal dvd is ' bend it like beckham ',it aspect ratio is 16.9 [ 1.85:1 ].
On my standalone and WSTV the orignal comes out full screen. But when i set the source to 16.9 FS keep aspect ratio in tmpg it puts it into letterbox,if i set the source to 4.3 FS keep aspect ratio it goes fullscreen.
Full screen

Letterbox

I played them on my standalone and they never looked thin of fat.The only difference i could see was the black bars.
Whats your opinions ?? ,before i go and encode it.

theoretically, widescreen will always look better than fullscreen given the same encoding settings (i.e. bitrate, etc..)
this is because there are less pixels on the screen to be encoded in widescreen than in fullscreen, so that each pixel in widescreen gets more bitrate (and higher quality) than in full screen.
in essence, the bitrate is divided up among more pixels in full screen (with less bitrate/pixel) than widescreen.
i believe the black bars also consume some bitrate, but i don't think it's much.
