Hi all! I'm relatively new to this sooo I got some confusion in my brain as to what is what, which is why I'm here to get a smarter person's opinion! =)

I'm looking for a sub $100 PCI video capture card with S-Video input. Now capture quality *is* important, but moreso is the quality of the s-video signal displayed on the screen. As I said before, I really don't know much about how the capture card takes the analog signal from the svideo input and converts it to a computer readable format for display on the computer monitor, so do all cards with s-video inputs do it the same way and thus produce identical quality streaming video? At this point I am still not addressing capture quality, just the quality of video input displayed to the screen in real-time.

What I'm trying to do is connect some AV equipment to my computer to get a higher video quality. (I figure a Trinitron monitor is going to give a sharper picture than an analog TV...)

From what I have read so far, the ATi TV Wonder is a good choice, however I read on this site that it is not so good... I continued to look around on this site and found no reviews by site staff, but reviews by users instead. One of the higher rated sub 100 PCI cards was the Avermedia AverTV Studio.

Is the Avermedia AverTV Studio a good entry-level capture card that will display S-Video to the monitor with negligable video distortion/noise introduced by the card? ...Or does displaying to the screen directly really not matter from card to card?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appritiated! ...Maybe somone knows of a good site where I could research the subject a little more?

Well, in any case, thanks for taking the time to read =).
