  2. It'd be difficult to be exactly sure just by looking at it.

    If you've got the file on your PC you could easily check by loading it in something like TMPGE, but it seems that isn't the case. You could always rip the file off the cd in question and check it out as well.

    If you're talking about a file you just downloaded as an mpeg, it's most likely in VCD format.

  3. i do have the video on my hd. that's the thing. it's almost great quality and it has "vcd-xvcd" in the name and dont know which it is...

  4. someone please? i still need help trying to figure out if a video i have on my hd is vcd or xvcd because in the name is "vcd-xvcd"

  5. Load it into TMPGE and check to see what the specs are. If they aren't standard vcd (you can check that by loading the VCD template to see what they are if you aren't sure), then it's xvcd.

    But if it's labelled "vcd-xvcd" I'd bet that it IS xvcd.

  6. Load it TMPGEnc and pull it up in the de-multiplex dialog. If the video stream in the file is MPEG1, 1150 CBR, it's videoCD. Any other bitrate and its xVCD. MPEG2 and it SVCD or not a standard format at all.
