  1. Hello There!

I have a problem which appears sometimes when I have an avi that has an audio stream that was encoded with mp3 in variable bitrate. I take the audio track from the video with virtual dub and place the two sources into TMPeg.

I usually split the conversion of the movie in two or more parts, equal to the discs I want to store the movie onto. Often when I have two sources for video and audio, the sync is wrong from the second part.

Has anyone dealt with this problem and knows how to solve it?

    Thanks for any help,
    NiteFlame

Once you have split the video, make a note of exactly where the second part begins.

Load the original video into Gold Wave. Select Edit-->Marker-->Set. In the Start Marker Time box, put the beginning time of your SECOND video. Leave the End Marker Time box with end time alone. Select OK.

Select Edit-->Copy. Then File-->New. When the new box shows. Select Edit-->MIX. Save as a wave file. Now mux this new wave file with your SECOND video file. You should be good to go.

  3. Thanks for this decent guide, but I was still aware of this solution. I only can't imagine why this always happens on seperated streams and I thought there is a chance to fix this within tmpeg by adjusting some settings. THANK YOU anyway!

You will use the main window for wave files.

  6. sorry for being stupid, but what do you mean by "main window"? do I have to put the wav and the mpg file into a new project? I thought I can use the "MPEG Tools" and the multiplex section for this job.

No, no. When you first launch TMPGEnc, if the wizard does not come up, you are in the main window. If the wizard does pop up, close it, and again, you are in the main window.

  8. yes, that's what I meant, too. but what exactly is the job i should do with the wav? on the main page, I have to ability to create a job like i do with the wizard, or i could launch the multiplex / demultiplex section from the file menu. but there, wav is not supported as a source.
or do you mean i have to merge the avi with the shortened wav file again?

    kind regards,

For Video input, use the second video file. For input audio, use the shortened audio wave file. In the main wondow, it will accept wave files.

  10. aaah, ok, thanks, i'll try this. for the future, I have decided to not save the vbr audio stream as a second file but to save the avi with uncompressed audio. this has always done well when encoding.

    thank you very much!
