svcd>divx help

Hi I am new to concersion and have been looking at this site and getting more and more confused by the second
I have several movies(vcd/svcd) on 2cds that I want to convert to one whole movie on my pc but in divx format(so i can play through to my tv)
Can anyone give me a step by step guide on what i need and how to do join the 2 cds and convert to divx i downloaded vitual dub but it wont work so i deleted it .

take a look at left column.how to/convert.u can use other software aswell as virtual dub
