when trying to open a 10% complete dl avi movie in virtual dub on my laptop, i got this message "couldn't locate decompressor for format MP43 (Microsoft high speed mpeg 4 v3), virtual dub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video".
i have been using virtual dub a lot on my pc but this is the first time on my laptop. i have never received this message on my pc, only on my laptop.
apparently i just need a codec, right? if so, what exactly do i look for and where can i get it? thanks

hmm, seems you need the MPEG-4 Codec...
I think if you install the NIMO CODEC PACk, MPEG-4 will be included...
if not, check the Microsoft site and SEARCH for MPEG-4 or sumtin like thatWanne earn something a couple of dollars?

Open the avi movie in WMP, whilst your PC is connected to the internet and WMP will automatically go to MS, find, download and install the correct codec. You should then be able to open it in vdub.

ya true, but i don't trust them when they do that... They gave me more than once the wrong codec... I installed NIMO and everything worked just fine
