ATI Infobase File #4020: MMC Library fails to initialize:
    http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4020.html

I am encountering problems initializing the MMC Library on my computer, as described in the Infobase File #4020. Basically, I cannot use the MMC Library.

Here is my info: Windows 2000 on ECS K7VTA3-3.0 motherboard with AMD 2000XP CPU. ATI Multimedia Center 7.7 with all the latest drivers.

If I cannot use the MMC Library to convert my ATI *.vcr files to mpeg2 files (for burning SVCD), how do I do the conversion outside of the library?

Can someone help me figure out how to convert the *.vcr files to mpeg2? Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

  2. In two words, you can't.I didn't install Media Library, when the setup asks you "Instalation Mode"choose "Custom".I don't know why ATI added this useless feature. In "Sounds and Multimedia"select Devices,Video Compression Codecs and look for "ATIVCR1" & "2"and remove them.

  4. I intentionally recorded to the *.vcr format because it supported closed captioning. I am not sure if *.avi or *.mpeg2 will support or display closed captioning. Let me know what my options are. Thanks.

Don't know if this will help, but I've tracked down a fix for this on my AIW 128 Pro / WinME / MMC 7.7.0.1 system.

You need to get a copy of atioops.dll from an MMC 7.6 installation, put it in the 7.7 MLibrary directory, then using a command prompt, register the dll.
    for example

    CD c:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\Mlibrary
    c:\windows\system\REGSVR32 .\atioops.dll

If you upgrade from 7.6, the file will be there and registered, but if you clean install 7.7 it won't.

    Enjoy
