DVDPro DVD-R and Sony DRU-500A compatibility.

Is there ANYBODY the was successfull with burning DVDPro (Grade A) 4.7GB DVD-R from Meritline.com on Sony DRU-500A ?

I saw a lot of posts that these 2 doesn't work together, but still.....

ANYBODY ?

I called Meritline and they told me to try them (I should receive them tommorow). My burner is somewhere .... who knows where....

I originally burned 1 coaster with DVDPro (maybe because I think I forgot to turn on the buffer underrun protection (Lossless Linking) since I was new to Veritas.

Since then I have burned 3 DVDPro 1X DVD-R discs in a row successfully with my DRU-500A.
HOWEVER, be careful: Mine are an old batch ordered months ago; they may have changed the media since then.

I found this out the hard way with Prodisc 2X DVD-R:

My brother ordered a batch of Prodisc 2X (silver top) online a while ago.
I borrowed some; they worked fine with my DRU-50A. I then decided to order some Prodisc 2X DVD-R recently (white top). I tried five. They all produced coasters to my surprise (I have returned them for Princo 2X. They had sent me a Princo 2X sample; it worked fine at 2X in my
DRU-500A.
I then compared the Prodisc 2X from a few months ago (vendor A; silver top) against the ones I just got last week (vendor B; white inkjet printable paperlike top) and I noticed that the rings near the center of the bottom of the disc were slightly different in size.

I ordered a sample pack from Meritline this months. I burned 2 DVDPro with my DRU500. They played fine in my Panasonic RP62 standalone. So do they in 3 Sony players I tried.

Was it white top / purple bottom disk or silver ?
