I'd like to rip the entire DVD including features. Because all can't be copied onto a DVD-R, I was thinking of transcoding every VOB file there is. After transcoding them which results in smaller file size, I could probably just create an Audio_TS and a Video_TS folder, and in the Video_TS folder, copy the original .bup and .ifo and place the newly created .vob files.
I suspect that as long as I end up with the same number of .vob files, the .bup and .ifo will still point to the new .vobs as if they were the original .vob files. Will this work? Any theories? hypothesis? skepticism? possibilities?

its not that simple, ifo file contain more complex information than number of vobs present in the video_ts folder
**U can rip the entire dvd + extras but u need to use IFOEDIT to fix incorrect points that encoding can produce.
if u use tmpg or cce to encode u can use ifo update (along with an authoring program) to fix original ifos by using info from new authored ones.check out http://www.geocities.com/eatin_sammiches/sprucecreations.html to download additonal buttons and backgrounds for SPRUCE-UP menu creation -
Thanks for the reply. It's probably more work than what it's worth anyway. But it was a good idea, huh?
