Just when things become comfortable, someone throws a monkey wrench.
I have had good success with Smart Ripper -> Flask ->TMPGEnc -> VCD Easy. Good enough to make me dangerous.
The movie I am presently working on, at the Flask stage would not allow decoding of the audio. On the disc it states "This disk is encoded with an uncompressed PCM soundtrack."
I searched for an alternate method and tried SmartRipper -> DVD2AVI.
This method, at least, gave me an audio track. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, I found that the VOBs themselves were (how to phrase this so that it makes sense) "speeded up?". Both the video and audio. The movie runs fine on both the PC and stand Alone players. I did search the forums and came up with a similar problem but, it was PAL to NTSC. This disk is NTSC and 29.97 not film. This info came from SmartRipper. Remember, the VOBs were dropped into a file viewer and came out that way.
How do I slow down both the video and audio at SmartRipper (my assumption as to where the problem is) so that the rest of the process runs smoothly?
Please be gentle with terminology, or explain each along th way. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
On an associated note, what are the benefits / downfalls of the two methods outlined. Why is one better than the other.
Thanks to all for the abundance of info found throughout VCDHELP.
