  1. i have only encountered this problem with ONE movie in the past...this is the second time

when i am ripping the audio from my divx file, i load the movie in virtualdub, set the settings (48000hz, integral conversion, stereo, 16-bit, high quality), and then go to File | Save WAV...

then i enter the filename and press save and it gives me this error:

The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format.

is there any way i can fix this...as this is a movie i really want to convert to vcd/svcd

any help appreciated, thanks in advance

Without sounding redundant, it seems to be telling you that the input and output format are not compatible. Do you know what the format of the audio is in the divx? It may give you a clue as to why they don't match
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  7. thanks wee haggis..here is what i found:

    Sampling rate: 48000hz
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Sample precision: 0-bit
    Compression: Unknown (tag 2000)
    Preload skew: 12000 samples (0.25s)
    # of frames: 164564
    Min/avg/max/total frame size: 12/1001/12000 (160965 K)

    so the compression is unknown

still open to suggestions on how to do this

So what is the reason for applying a conversion. Its already 16 stereo 48K.

Don't convert just direct stream copy and save the audio as is.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  9. well the thing is it wont load in TMPGEnc either, gives me this error when i press Start to begin converting:

File "D:\SVCD\John Q\John Q.avi" can not open, or unsupported.

    is this divx file useless?

I meant save the wav separately in vdub but use audio direct stream copy and save as wav with no conversion.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

I hope your avi msg in tmpgenc is not because your directshow read filters are not high enough priority in tmpgenc.

Since you have done this many times before you would already know that right??
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  12. gah..thanks gll99 that fixed my problem

before i upped the priority to 4 because of problems during splitting my output files on different movies

i now changed it to 5 and it started converting in tmpgenc

    thanks again.
