  1. I installed TMPGEnc and tried to load a d2v file and I keep getting a "can not open, or unsupported error message". Any help is appreciated.

If you get an error message when opening the video or audio like file unsupported
or you get an empty(black) video preview window
or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
Be sure that you have installed the DivX Codecs (both DivX 3.11, 4 and 5) and also try with the Nimo Codec Pack. If that does not work try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video.
    Hello.

You need to install the vfapi plugin for tmpgenc to read d2v files

  5. Did you copy the dvd2avi vfwapi plugin from the dvd2avi install folder to the tmpgenc folder? the correct file is called DVD2AVI.VFP
If it's not in the tmpgenc folder, tmpgenc will not recognize d2v files

  6. Yes I have copied the file and still the same thing. Can't understand why this is happening. Maybe a fresh install of everything might be the solution. Boy, I hate to have to do that. Thanks for the help.

  7. one other thought, just to make sure. In DVD2AVI Do you have the vfapi plugin checked under the help option?

And your Direct Show priority is higher than 2?

  10. Thanks for all the help. Dummy me, I reinstalled and all is fine after changing the settings you suggested. Sorry to have wasted your time - should've tried this before asking for help here.

    Thanks again.
