Tmpg wont regonize asf files

hey whats up? i never had this problem in thep ast, but for some reason now tmpg will not regonize asf files i try to input into it. i am using tmpg plus 5538.
i do have the vfp files for it installed and direct show waith a priority of 2.
i have used the asf tools to convert to an avi and it looks more like it changes info in the asf header to make it an avi (?), but i would rather go straight from the asf to an mpg( or in my case an mpg2) without the middle man so to speak. can anyone help me out? thanks again

I use 2.57, and it accepts .asf with no problems. Have you considered upgrading?
