Does anyone have this drive, along with Windows XP? I was wondering if you can help. The drive claims to have 8x read speed, but I only get 2x, no more, no less, no matter which program I use.
Anyone had this problem and overcome it?

It is an 8x MAX.
That means it will go no higher than 8x.
Make sure u have DMA On and an ASPI layer and remember that it's an 8x max variable speed drive. -
u may find this interesting to but ur drive also doesn't burn at the speed u specify all the time.
I didn't know burn speed varried until i found a regetry hack that lets you see the actual speed nero burns at. -
