Now I tried the newbies guide to rip dvd. I get to the part where I have to calculate the ave bit rate. I click on the calculator link, change and add what the guide says.
I took the time from the back of the dvd box which was 101 min. Is this where I get the time from? I put that in and get a ave rate of 5658 kbit/s. The scale is in bit/s. How many 0's do I add to the 5658?

You can do it that way, but I usually look at the stream itself. For example, I use Ifoedit to open the .ifo that corresponds to the movie and it will list out all the chapters, with there positions. At the last chapter you can see the movie length down to tenths of a second. Good luck!

thanks I'll try that . But how many 0's do I add to the ave rate I get from that calculator?

5658 kbps=5658000 bit/s as "k" stands for kilo=thousand. (-> 3 zeroes)
Guess it has some advantages being born with the metric system...
(Things get a little more complicated when dealing with kB (kilobyte) where kilo suddenly isn't 1000 anymore, but 1024!)

I have another question about the ave bit rate. After I load the .cffl file in remeg2 can I just leave that scale where rempeg2 put it?
