i have an ati aiw8500dv. just recently got it. i tried capturing from sky box office but it wouldn't record because the source is encoded and not for recording (it records the picture fine but destroys the sound). i didn't have this problem with my old wintv board though. so then i tried capturing from normal sky tv i had exactly the same problem. why, i don't know. i then tried capturing from terrestrial tv and though i didn't have the same problem the sound quality was still rubbish (not in the same way as with the supposedly encoded stuff though).
and it doesn't work with virtualdub either, or not very well anyway. i'm aware that a lot of cards don't work that well with virtualdub but i feel like i've taken a step down whil upgrading to this card (£120) from my old wintv card (around £50). my old card didn't have composite, s-video or dv input but i could capture from any source and it worked perfectly with virtualdub.
anyway, my question is, can you reccomend any good capture cards. with good quality capture (@ high res) and the more inputs the better.
so, any reccomendations?
